Hierarchical Faceted Search
'Hierarchical faceted search' describes a system of accessing information about a collection of objects, classes or subjects. Content is organised into a faceted classification system according to rules derived from terms in an ontology. This allows it to be ordered by relevancy into a hierarchy that is defined by accurately determined subject metadata for use by a search engine.
Hierarchical faceted search allows searchers to explore a domain by using ontologies to list and subsequently filter out those results that are unwanted or irrelevant, facilitating ease of search and ensuring precise, consistent and accurate faceted search results.
