Is Your Content Dancing to Your Tune & Sarah, Sarah, Where Art Thou?

Lately, I have been very entertainment oriented about my blogging – talking about dancing, singing – and now, I have added theatre to this mix!

Is Your Content Dancing to Your Tune?

Jeannine Bartlett’s (Earley and Associates) and Toby Conrad’s presentation on "Making Your Content to Dance to Your Tune: Tools to Simplify the Delivery of Your Content" was very well attended last Thursday, where they discussed the concept of content choreography to describe and manage relationships of content, format, page layouts and supporting metadata.  If you could not make it to the live webinar, you can view it here.

Sarah, Sarah.. Where Art Thou?

I saw this story about Sixty Guys Named Sarah on the Enterprise Search blog by New Idea Engineering a while back. This same story re-emerged under a new title "Searching for Sarah" just last month and reminded me that it is a perfect topic for me to blog about.

Basically, Booz & Company did an evaluation of F4SP versus the GSA on SharePoint and using the search term "Sarah".  The GSA returned 60 men in the result list; F4SP returned records for a number of women named “Sarah”, and a few men as well.  The difference between the two: metadata. However, neither F4SP nor the GSA is known for the ability to add "semantic" or "business" or "content intelligent" metadata.  For more on this, the reader is directed to Why Semaphore for FAST ESP and Why Semaphore for GSA - two white papers that discuss the tight integration of Semaphore with these search engines to add semantic processing capabilities that provide accurate and consistently applied metadata and classification to enhance findability and governance.
