Smartlogic Sponsors TFPL SharePoint Summit 2011, London, 22 March 2011

Smartlogic demonstrate the importance of semantic systems to SharePoint deployment with sponsorship of major London SharePoint Summit.

The TFPL SharePoint Summit 2011, due to take place on 22nd March 2011, will this year be sponsored by Smartlogic, the makers of the Enterprise Semantic Platform software known as Semaphore.

This year's event will focus on how users can achieve full business benefit from SharePoint, as the collaboration and information management platform continues to be adopted by more and more enterprises and organisations since the release of SharePoint 2010 in May last year.

Jeremy Bentley, CEO of Smartlogic, will open the Summit with a keynote presentation, focusing on how semantic systems can enhance SharePoint deployment, often a complicated and lengthy process.

As the founder of Smartlogic, Bentley is well placed to advise how Semaphore augments traditional information management systems like search, content management and business workflow engines by adding advanced content classification, metadata and navigation capabilities. When used as a migration tool, Semaphore for Microsoft SharePoint speeds up SharePoint commissioning, in addition to adding comprehensive taxonomy support for SharePoint 2007 and 2010. SharePoint findability is taken to a new level with automatic classification for document libraries, publishing sites, blogs and wiki content against one or more taxonomies.

According to Bentley, "Many organisations are in the process of migrating to SharePoint 2010 - and for good reason. SharePoint 2010 offers enormous opportunities to improve information and organisation access. Nevertheless, many companies are migrating content 'en masse' and without proper guidance, so can easily miss opportunities for improved efficiency. This is where semantic systems come into play - they are now used in SharePoint deployment by enterprise and government alike to improve information management, find-ability, governance and efficiency as well as solve the 'linked data' problem".

In his keynote, Bentley will illustrate the benefits of adding a semantic system to an organisation's existing investment in SharePoint and show why SharePoint cannot deliver them alone. He will then be joined by an expert panel who will be imparting practical advice and examining potential future developments for SharePoint, looking in detail at six innovative case studies from across the public and private sectors. KPMG, EEDA and Reynolds Porter Chamberlain LLP have also been invited to attend the event.

The TFPL SharePoint Summit 2011 is hosted by TFPL Intelligent Resources, the specialist professional services company focusing on knowledge, information, library, records and web & content management and will take place on 22 March, 2011 at The Charing Cross Hotel, London WC2N 5HX, UK.
