'Leveraging Ontology': UNICEF Take Smartlogic's Semaphore to DAM 2011, June 8-9 New York

Semaphore for Digital Asset Management. Jessica Peterson from UNICEF presents at DAM NY 2011 on June 9th.

Smartlogic's Semaphore software is the semantic software referenced in the discussion on Metadata, Taxonomy & Search at the Digital Asset Management (DAM) Conference in New York, June 8-9, 2011, where UNICEF's Jessica Peterson is presenting a talk on 'Leveraging Ontology for a Fully Integrated DAM Infrastructure.'

Jess Peterson is the taxonomy specialist for the Internet, Broadcasting and Image Section (IBIS) at UNICEF in New York City. IBIS ensures the distribution and availability of multifold UNICEF multimedia resources, and produces and manages the various UNICEF Web sites. It therefore has multiple and complex information management requirements. Jessica is aiming for ontology-driven DAM systems integration, maximizing IBIS’s potential for information delivery and an exceptional user experience.

Peterson's presentation will focus on how IBIS is successfully integrating enterprise-level systems into a cohesive information management infrastructure, using semantic technology to deliver relevant information to end users. Having successfully implemented automatic classification plugin for their CMS, UNICEF are in the process of integrating their search engine with the ontology for an enhanced search-and-navigation experience.

The 'Ontology Manager' is at the heart of the Smartlogic's Semaphore Enterprise Semantic Platform solution and covers the life-cycle of taxonomy, thesauri or ontology development and maintenance.

The DAM conference convenes on June 8 2011 at the Hilton Hotel, New York and runs over two consecutive days. The UNICEF presentation will take place on June 9th at 11:45am in Track One.
