Integrate Semaphore with the GSA for more Relevant Search Results

This diagram shows how the Semaphore ontology and classification modules work with the Google Search Appliance (GSA). The GSA is a closed appliance: the only custom element that can be loaded onto the GSA Server itself is modified interface XSLT code.

Classification and Indexing Pipeline

The "Classification Handler" components intercept calls from GSA Indexing pipeline and send the crawled URLs to Semaphore Classification Server. The metadata generated by Classification Server is then recombined into the GSA Index.

Taxonomy Term Information

The Semantic Enhancement Server will periodically query the GSA index to keep a log of the number of content items per taxonomy term.

Search Query Pipeline

The Query interface can be the native Google XSLT based interface or a custom application such as the Semaphore Search Application Framework. These interface components intercept the user query to drive the required Semaphore taxonomy-related components, such as "related topics" or "facet navigators".
