Using the Semaphore for OpenText (RedDot) CMS plug-in
Simple, Intuitive Meta Tagging of CMS Content Reduces User Burden
The Semaphore for OpenText Web Site Management Server plug-in is designed to make the process of adding quality metadata from a controlled vocabulary to an OpenText page as simple as possible.
Automatically Tag an Entire Project
The integration is created in a way that the functions are available to the systems team for any custom application. A typical use of this would be to create a batch process that runs through all the OpenText content pages and automatically classifies them in a "first pass" routine.
Tag Pages Simply and Intuitively
In edit mode, the plug-in is launched using the normal "RedDot" call.
The plug-in will display any tags that exist on the page from a previous automatic or manual classification.
The editor can then:
- Auto Suggest and the page contents are sent to Semaphore Classification Server which returns the tags it thinks are most appropriate.
- Search the taxonomy for matching terms. This uses the Semaphore Semantic Enhancement Server "concept mapping" service - so any matches on the agreed labels or the synonyms and signpost terms in the taxonomy are considered.
- User suggests which is a feedback mechanism for the editor to suggest new terms for inclusion in the taxonomy. An email is generated with the suggestion (and the page id, user id, etc.) and sent to a specified address.
There can be many instances of the plug-in generated which reference separate taxonomies (and the associated classification sets).
The process updates a standard RedDot element. Typically the publishing template will refer to this element and publish it as a <meta> tag on the site.
