The Semaphore Business Information Portal enhances federated search
Smartlogic have developed the Semaphore Business Information Portal application for Investment Banks to help them improve access to vital research, while controlling the costs of providing these valuable and potentially expensive insights.
This application demonstrates our knowledge of search and meta data working together as a basis for any portal or mashup application.
Faster routine searches, better control of costs
The Semaphore Business Information Portal does three key things:
- Automates routine federated searches: (e.g. gathering information on a company that would include investment research reports, company filings, rating reports, consensus estimates, and news reports).
- Controls costs: tracks what’s spent on which external information sources and reduces workload on Business Information Services (BIS) or ‘library’ staff.
- Frees up time: Gives the BIS team and other employees more time for value-added work.
A taxonomy-based approach to automating federated searches
Our Business Information Portal uses a sophisticated bespoke taxonomy to translate a user’s request into the unique language of each information provider.
