What does it do?
The Semaphore Word plug-in provides automatic classification facilities to Microsoft Word.
Documents are written in MS Word and upon invocation of the plug-in, will submit the contents of the document to Semaphore Classification service, returning subject classification metadata to be stored in the MS Word Document Properties.
Meeting Government Metadata Standards
Automatic classification of documents according to the UK Government IPSV standard, is provided as a service by Smartlogic. IPSV is the integrated public sector vocabulary, which is the controlled vocabulary from which all documents produced by Government, should pick the subject metadata. This government standard is known as eGMS (Government Metadata Standard) and is part of the wider eGIF(Government Interoperability format) .
Meeting your own corporate standards
If you have your own corporate file plan or taxonomy, then download our trial version of Semaphore TM, load Semaphore TM with your corporate taxonomies, upload this back to our Semaphore Classification service and we will provide subject metadata for you word documents, automatically.
Trial Limitations
Please note the trial version of this product is currently limited to classifying the first 10,000 characters of submitted documents and will only return terms from the UK government eGMS Integrated Public Sector Vocabulary (IPSV) classification scheme (see here for details).
