The role of Semaphore Content Classification Services is to perform classification, categorisation and automatic processing of content. Semaphore Content Classification Services is a rule-based classification engine complete with rule editor and rule generator.
The advantages of rules-based classification are:
- Repeatability
- Auditability
- Exception management
- Semantic processing
- Selective precision (as well as greater precision)
Traditionally these benefits have been overshadowed by the cost of writing the rules and so (the less accurate but faster to implement) Bayesian statistical techniques have been more commonly employed.
Semaphore has eliminated the expense without the loss of benefit by automatically generating the classification rules from the Semantic model (maintained in Semaphore OM).
Semaphore CS is comprised of three components:
- Rule template Editor RTE)
- Automatic Rules Creator (ARC)
- Semantic Processor (SP)
Semaphore CS provides server functionality to:
- Deliver subject metadata to third party search engines and content/records management systems
- Perform entity extraction
- Add semantic processing abilities to 3rd party applications
- Enhance workflow systems with the ability to branch based on a documents content, for example news can be routed to particular individual based on the subject matter in the article.
