The Smartlogic competition to win a ticket for the Perfect Information Conference 2008 is now closed.

There were 59 entries to the competition and the correct answer to the question “What is the average number of Business Information requests handled by all the competition entrants” is 53,406. Well done to the lucky winner of the competition, Ann Greenwood at Arnold and Porter, with a guess of 50,000.

Nearly all the entries came from Financial Services firms (31) and Law firms (25). The chart below shows the average number of requests for these two sectors.

One entrant (a bank) claims to get only one request a year – whilst at the opposite end of the spectrum one law firm claims 1m requests per year! Could this tell us something about our future economy?
