Semaphore Training

Smartlogic provides training so your team can get the most from our Semaphore ontology management, classification and search tools. Our virtual training course is a 4-week, online, self-paced series of video training, student exercises and instructor interaction.

This course will provide the Information Managers and Taxonomists within your organization with a comprehensive view of the core components in the Semaphore product suite. Using a single use case, participants will come away with a thorough understanding of the Semaphore platform, model development and classification strategies that result in successful project outcomes.

Pre-requisites: None - a rudimentary understanding of ontologies/taxonomies is helpful

Costs: $1995 per person (US), 1735 (Euro), 1372 (GBP), 2540 (CAD)*

Module Description
Introduction Introduces participants to the training curriculum, models and reviews the individual Semaphore components.
Information Architecture Information architecture overview. An overview of how Semaphore tools support project information architecture, and a review of how an integrated approach to developing the Semaphore solution will result in improved organizational outcomes.
Model Development An analysis of model development, enrichment, and artifact reuse options and trade-offs. Participants will set up core elements of a model by adding, modifying and deleting classes, concepts, labels, metadata and languages. A review of how models and linked model changes are managed and processes associated with model review.
Model Publishing Semaphore publishing options, processes and trade-offs. Participants will learn to read and modify a publisher configuration file to modify and manage rules.
Classification Classification modules will provide participants with information about commonly used classification strategies as well as a review and exercises to develop advanced strategies that will allow them to address the unique characteristics of an organization and content.

Testing and Mitigation Strategies

Refinement modules allow participants to utilize Semaphore testing frameworks to fine tune models based on their content and the specific needs of an organization. There will also be a review of common issues and mitigation strategies.
