Enhanced Information Discovery

Find the content you need, when you need it

Leave frustrating search behind, save time, and increase efficiency with enhanced enterprise search. Semaphore queries against the meaning of a document and returns those that contain your exact query – as well as those that have related terms. Semaphore moves your enterprise search system from keyword searches to semantic search, so you find documents that are about your query instead of those that use the terms in your query.

Why semantic search?

Semantic search seeks to improve search accuracy by understanding searcher intent and the contextual meaning of terms as they appear in the search results.

A number of mechanisms are employed to do this:

  • Query disambiguation – Through “search as you type” or via a “Did you mean” prompt the search engine references an ontology or other domain model to add context to potentially ambiguous queries (for example “diet” – did you mean “Health Eating”, “Vegetarian Diet” “Losing Weight”?)
  • Search Result filtering – Facets that group the results into logical topic areas. This provides an overview of the result set (a topic map) from which users can refine their search.
  • Conceptual Navigators – having gained some idea of the users search context, further visual prompts can be provided again from a domain model or previous query history to take users to related topic areas.

Faceted search

Semaphore also offers faceted search, which lets you search against your documents from many different directions – making it easier for all of your workers to find information in the ways that best suits their searching abilities. Semaphore integrates with the Nutch, Apache SOLR/Lucene, SharePoint, MarkLogic, Oracle WebCenter, and any CMIS compliant content management system
