Semantic Enhancement Server

Don’t settle for a lesser search experience

Semaphore Semantic Enhancement Server (SES) drives exceptional user search experiences. It delivers the information you’re looking for so you can save time and eliminate the frustration of weeding through confusing or irrelevant search results.

Semantic Enhancement Server uses your model to navigate search results, suggest related areas of interest and display other information, which contain concepts, people, places, and organizations that match your search criteria. This process lets you refine results and presents you with additional topics, concepts and other items which are related to your original search.

Semantic Enhancement Server creates a snapshot of your model and makes it available to downstream applications, to apply metadata tags to the information asset and to deliver users a compelling search experience.

SES is a high-speed XML-based index that allows you to query your model in real-time by providing user interface (UI) components such as Topic Maps, Faceted Search, Visualization, Topic Pages, Related Content, etc. providing users sufficient navigational aids over their information.

  • Concept mapping - search using familiar vocabulary. The model is used to identify the possible topics the user is interested in based on search criteria.
  • Topic maps – show users how the results breakdown by listing the topics in the results and indicate how often a topic is represented. Topic maps allow users to refine their search by selecting the topics of interest.
  • Best bets - provide links to web pages, applications and other resources associated with a selected topic. The link is managed centrally and stored within the model separate from the information.
  • Related topics – related topic boxes display other topics (associated subjects), which may be of interest. When you select a related topic, a new search is executed and results returned. Related topics are identified using the model and can be quickly modified.
  • Taxonomy navigator - view the model hierarchy and drill down through it to select a topic from the model. Once a topic is selected, all information for that topic is displayed.
  • Dynamic summaries - enhance search results by highlighting the evidence found during the classification process – that is – the preferred labels, synonyms and related topics are highlighted in the search results.
  • Topic path browser – shows the user how the concept they are searching for fits into the overall model. Users can drill up to view broader concepts and a more generic result set or drill down to view narrower topics and a more granular result set or they can drill across to review sibling topics.

Semantic Enhancement Server provides extensions to integrate with Apache Solr, Microsoft SharePoint and other search engines and information management platforms. Semantic Enhancement Server’s search engine integration provides a sophisticated and rich user search and retrieval experience, which can be used to gain insight, find new opportunities, innovate and drive change.
